Borrowed from Ancient Greek δίγλωττις (díglōttis, “two-tongued”), from δίς (dís, “twice”) and γλωττίς (glōttís), from γλῶττα (glôtta), secondary form of γλῶσσα (glôssa, “tongue, language”). di- + -glot.
